Intradco Global, the world’s leading specialist in animal transport, has appointed Dennis Christen as Global Product Manager for Wildlife, Zoological, and Marine Logistics.genetic multiplication, with the animals destined for the end-client’s farm in the Philippines.

With more than 35 years of experience in aquariums, zoological institutions, and rescue and rehabilitation programmes, Dennis has long been recognised as a solutions-driven leader in animal welfare and logistics. Having managed large-scale animal transports from the client side, he brings insider knowledge of the stresses and responsibilities zoological teams face.

“This role is not simply about moving animals,” said Dennis. “It is about bridging two worlds—practical welfare and logistics expertise—into a unified, welfare-first approach that strengthens conservation missions. Intradco is redefining what animal logistics means, and I am excited to help our partners achieve even greater outcomes.”

A Welfare-First Perspective

Dennis’ appointment reflects a career spent aligning practical animal care with logistical innovation. Known for solving complex challenges in the zoological sector, he now brings this expertise into an organisation redefining transport for wildlife, marine, and exotic species.

“My first month with Intradco has been both energising and affirming,” he added. “After years on the zoological side, I’ve seen how creative and innovative the Intradco team truly is. Their approach embodies a welfare-first mindset, supported by logistical expertise and a genuine passion for animals. We are not just creating efficient transport models, we are building frameworks for conservation success.”

Industry Transformation Since 2000

The transport of animals has evolved significantly over the past quarter century. In the early 2000s, moves were often hampered by fragmented communication, limited options, and lack of transparency. Today, real-time visibility and data flows are non-negotiable, with zoological partners expecting welfare to be monitored and prioritised at every stage.

At the core of this evolution lies human expertise: animal care staff, veterinarians, and logistics teams working in seamless partnership from planning through to follow-up support. Welfare also extends to design leadership. Crates and unit load devices are no longer seen as containers but as mobile habitats, designed to provide safety, comfort, and species-specific needs. Intradco has led this rethinking, establishing welfare-driven design as a global benchmark.

Aircraft utilisation remains critical. Widebody freighters like the 747 provide capacity for scale, while narrow-body aircraft suit regional movements. The ability to match species groups to aircraft types, routes, and stopover strategies is a true competitive edge.

Equally vital is synergy across the supply chain. Successful moves depend on aligned partners at origin, en route, and destination, built on both trust and technology. In a globalised industry, establishing welfare-first standards that transcend regulatory and cultural differences has become essential, and Intradco is uniquely positioned to define them.

Future-Facing Innovation

The next phase of zoological logistics will be shaped by predictive technology. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will help anticipate risks, optimise routes, and manage animal-specific needs in real time. This is not about replacing the human touch but enhancing it, equipping teams to act proactively rather than reactively.

Intradco is investing heavily in this evolution, making logistics not only reliable but predictive, resilient, and welfare led. By blending zoological insight with advanced logistics, the company is positioning itself as both innovator and trusted partner worldwide.
