FL Technics to add Airbus A330 to its capability list

FL Technics to add Airbus A330 to its capability listFL Technics, a global provider of tailor-made aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services, continues to expand the scope of its activities in the global market. Following the expansion of its total hangar capacity to over 30 000 sq. m., the company‘s management has confirmed plans to introduce Airbus A330 aircraft type to its EASA Part 145 certificate. The certification is expected to be carried out by summer 2016.

This year FL Technics has successfully launched a new 8 500 sq. m. MRO centre at Kaunas International Airport and won a tender for the rent of 9 000 sq. m. aircraft maintenance hangar at Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Moreover, together with its holding company Avia Solutions Group, it is participating in the projects of developing a 25 000 sq. m. aviation cluster in Lithuania and the fourth airport in Moscow – Ramenskoye International. Upon the successful implementation of the aforementioned projects the company will be able to further increase the number of performed heavy maintenance works within the next couple of years.

Currently, the FL Technics base maintenance capabilities already cover such popular narrow-body aircraft as Airbus A319/A320/A321, Boeing 737 CL and Boeing 737 NG. Having added sufficient aircraft capacity to service large wide-body machines, the company has decided to expand its capabilities and enter the perspective segment, as there are almost 150 Airbus A330 aircraft operated in Europe alone.

“Last year FL Technics completed its first major development stage, while this year has been spent evaluating the results and analysing the latest trends within the industry. Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of Avia Solutions Group The new stage will be dedicated to the expansion of our capabilities with regard to both, geographic presence and new aircraft types. This is why in the course of several upcoming years we are planning to add two more aircraft types – namely Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 – to our Part 145 certificate,” shares Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board at Avia Solutions Group. “Therefore, we are looking at potentially targeting a fleet of 350 aircraft, part of which are already operated by FL Technics’ clients. We are confident that the expanded list of our services will make us more visible, attractive and accessible not only to our clients in Europe and the CIS, but also customers in such rapidly developing markets as Asia.”

“FL Technics has always kept the requirements of its current and potential clients at the forefront of its development. Therefore, with our well-established capabilities to offer highly flexible and modern solutions for narrow-body support, we have decided to enter the wide-body segment as well,” shares Zilvinas Lapinskas, the CEO of FL Technics. “Of course, such models as Airbus A330 are currently not the most popular aircraft on the market. However, due to the operational specifics, their maintenance is not as seasonal as that of the narrow-bodies, which will allow us to keep our current and upcoming facilities full all year around.”
